Brendan Rodgers is ready to give Fabio Borini increased opportunities at Anfield if he can impress when he is handed the chance to play for Liverpool.

The Northern Irish manager named Borini in the starting eleven for Liverpool's 3-1 defeat at West Ham on Saturday, a remarkable turnaround for a player who saw the Reds accept two bids, from Sunderland and QPR, for his services in the summer.

Borini refused to move and stated his determination to fight for a spot at Liverpool and Rodgers explained he will give the Italian increased opportunities if he can impress.

"I know Fabio very well from our days at Chelsea as a youth team player", Rodgers told a press conference.

"I think I've shown in my time as a coach and as a manager that there is always the opportunity if you deliver on the field.

"For Fabio, as a striker, he'll want to score goals and create goals.

"And if he can do that, that will always help the cause."

Borini will be hoping to get the vote to feature for Liverpool once again tomorrow night when Middlesbrough pay Rodgers' men a visit in the League Cup.
