Incoming Valencia owner Peter Lim has bought a 50 per cent stake in English non-league outfit Salford City FC.

The Evo Stik outfit were taken over by former Manchester United players Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt in March this year.

However, the Manchester United legends will now own 50 per cent of the club after Lim's move.

And they have welcomed the arrival of the Singaporean billionaire to boost Salford City FC.

"When we set upon this journey we always knew at some point we wanted external partners involved, people who would share our vision for Salford City FC", the Manchester United legends said in a statement, carried by the BBC.

"Peter's love of sport, above all football, is well documented. He has an incredible track record in business as well as youth and community engagement, especially at grassroots level. Peter's experience and knowledge can help take the club to where we believe they can be."

Lim's purchase of 50 per cent of the club is now subject to approval from the English Football Association.
