Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka believes that his team have the ability to cause an upset when they take on Liverpool in a League Cup third round tie at Anfield on Tuesday.

Boro are in red hot form having won three matches in a row in the Championship and are currently placed fifth in the league with 15 points.

Their recent 4-0 demolition of Brentford follows last week's 1-0 win against Cardiff City and the 41-year-old manager believes that there is absolutely no reason why his team cannot repeat the same performance against Liverpool tomorrow as well.

"The most important thing is that we keep going in this way and win games", Karanka told his club's official site.

“We can’t think we are better than we are.”

Their opponents on Tuesday are a team that are desperate to return to winning ways after having lost two league matches in a row, to Aston Villa and West Ham United.
