Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta insists that the Italian champions have never been in the market to sign Mario Balotelli.

The Italy international striker joined Liverpool from AC Milan this summer for £16m. However, in the January transfer window at the start of the year, Balotelli had been linked with a move to Juventus.

But Marotta is clear that the Bianconeri never set about trying to sign the former Inter and Manchester City hitman.

Asked about the talk surrounding Balotelli, Marotta said on Italian radio station Radio 1: "He has never been a target.

"There's never been any question [of signing him]."
