Cristiano Ronaldo has a new coach at international level after Portugal appointed former Greece boss Fernando Santos as the new national team manager.

Portugal recently parted ways with Paulo Bento after a home Euro 2016 qualifying defeat to Albania followed on from a disappointing World Cup campaign.

They have swiftly turned to Santos, who led Greece to the World Cup last 16 this summer, along with guiding the country to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012.

The 59-year-old has coached extensively in his homeland of Portugal, bossing all the big three of FC Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica.

Santos upped sticks for Greece initially in 2001, taking over at AEK Athens, the first of two spells with the club.

He also bossed Panathinaikos and PAOK Salonika before taking the reins of the country's national team.

Santos' first job as Portugal coach will be to steer the country to Euro 2016 in France.
