Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina believes that Arsenal's Emirates Stadium is "perfect" and is hoping to make his debut for the club in the arena this evening.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger swooped to snap up Ospina from French side Nice after the World Cup, doing a deal to take the 26-year-old to England.

Ospina is expected to battle with Poland shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny for the club's number 1 shirt and a visit from Southampton in the League Cup is likely to be his chance to impress Wenger.

And doing that at the Emirates Stadium sounds like a dream to the custodian, who has already marveled at its interior.

"I’ve been looking forward to playing since I arrived at the club. It’s really important to be patient, although it’s key as well to be ready to step up whenever the manager gives you a chance", Ospina told the club's site.

"It would definitely be more special [to make my debut at home]. If I made my first appearance in front of our crowd it would be a dream come true because the atmosphere at the Emirates is extraordinary", he continued.

And Ospina dubbed the Emirates Stadium, which succeeded Highbury as Arsenal's home, "perfect".

"I would say that the club has a perfect football stadium. I’ve already been down there on the pitch. In fact, that experience may help me understand how it would be like to defend Arsenal’s goal in the home games."
