Former Arsenal winger Robert Pires has expressed his optimism about adapting to the hot and humid weather conditions in India.

The 40-year-old will will turn out for FC Goa in the Indian Super League that kicks off next month, after opting to come out of retirement.




And the former France international, who last played for Aston Villa in 2011, is visibly excited about the new challenge that awaits him once he takes to the field in India.

 


"The weather is not the same as UK or in Spain. We know that it’s hot", Pires said at a press event held today in Mumbai.

He also took time to talk about the additional responsibility that he is expected to shoulder in the ISL this year, as one of the biggest name players in the event.

"I’m ready. I’ve been training hard. There is a lot of responsibility on my shoulders.

"A lot of pressure. But I like the pressure. Tomorrow I will meet [my] team-mates and we will start training together."

Pires has been greeted warmly in India and the Arsenal legend is delighted to have been welcomed with open arms.

"I’m so happy to be here. I didn’t expect it. So thank you very much for the welcome", Pires added.
