Galatasaray are hoping to persuade Wesley Sneijder to put pen to paper on a new contract which would end any possibility of a move away from the Turk Telekom Arena for the playmaker.

Sneijder has a €20m release clause in his contract with the Turkish Super Lig side and has been continually linked with joining Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

It is talk the Dutchman has done little to play down by admitting that he is happy with interest from his former national team coach.

Earlier this week the attacking midfielder said: "It's good to hear that Louis van Gaal is interested in me, he is an absolute expert."

Losing Sneijder is not something Galatasaray are ready to contemplate however.

And according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, the Turkish side are planning to tie Sneijder down to a new contract in Istanbul which will put talk of his departure to bed permanently.

There has been contact between the club and the player's representatives and Galatasaray are hopeful Sneijder will follow Fernando Muslera, Burak Yilmaz, Semih Kaya and Selcuk Inan in signing a new long term deal.
