Arsenal legend Robert Pires has insisted that it will be an honour for him to play under Zico at FC Goa in the Indian Super League.

The 40-year-old has arrived in India to take part in the tournament that kicks off next month.




While expressing his excitement about the new challenge that awaits him in the country, the French international also took time to talk about Zico, who boasts of having enjoyed an illustrious career with the Brazilian national team from 1976 to 1986.

 


"It’s an honour being coached by the legend Zico", Pires said in a statement.

He further described his first training experience in the country and expressed his optimism about seeing his ISL experience turn out to be a "big success".

“It’s been a good first day. It’s a good feeling. I’m excited about the ISL and I think it’s going to be a big success.

"I’ve enjoyed my first day of training."

Pires earned a total of 79 caps for France between 1996 and 2004 and was an integral part of the French national team that won the World Cup in 1998 and Euro 2000.
