Lyon have moved quickly to keep young striker Clinton N’Jie at the club, signing the 21-year-old to a new contract running until 2019.

The young striker was recently linked with moving to Arsene Wenger's Arsenal amid speculation he had a release clause set at just £800,000 in his contract at the Stade Gerland.

Lyon though are desperate not to lose N'Jie and have moved to ensure his long term future is spent developing with Les Gones.

"This is the beginning of the adventure. I'm happy", a delighted N'Jie told Lyon's official site when putting pen to paper.

"Now we have to continue working, to play. And I hope we will be in Europe at the end of the season.

"I'm proud of myself. I want to also thank everyone who helped me get this far. This extension is a good thing for me. It shows that the team have confidence in me."

N'Jie has clocked up four appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon in the current campaign, providing one assist.

He also featured in the club's brief Europa League campaign, scoring one goal in two games.
