Brendan Rodgers is not surprised by the alleged interest of Real Madrid in Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling.

Sterling has flourished under the tutelage of Rodgers at Liverpool and at 19 is one of the most crucial members of the squad.

He is considered one of the brightest young talents in English football and has quickly risen through the ranks to become a regular in the national team as well.

Reports emerged earlier this week that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Sterling’s development and Rodgers is not at all surprised.

He believes that most big clubs will be linked with a move for the youngster in the future, but the Liverpool manager said that he has nothing more to add to the rumour mill at the moment.

"It shows that he's playing exceptionally well", Rodgers was quoted as saying by ITV.

"I think you could probably link Raheem with every club in the world at the moment. He's a fantastic young talent.

"I've nothing really to add to it. There's obviously lots of speculation every day about players coming and going here at Liverpool.”

The Liverpool manager is not overtly concerned with the future of Sterling as he believes that the player is happy at Anfield and said that his long term future at the club will be sorted out as quickly as possible.

The forward still has three years left on his contract with the Merseyside giants.

"He's a wonderful boy who's developing very, very well here.

“I think him and his representatives and the people close to him know how comfortable he is here and I'm sure at some point in the future, whatever contract we're looking to work with will be sorted, but he's still got three years left and there's no rush from my perspective."

Sterling became the second youngest player to play for Liverpool when he made his debut against Wigan Athletic in March 2012 at the age of 17 years and 107 days. He has made 84 appearances for the Reds, scoring 15 goals and providing 16 assists.
