Schalke coach Jens Keller believes that both his side and Borussia Dortmund are facing similar kinds of problems this season.

Schalke will host Dortmund in the 139th edition of the Ruhr derby at the Veltins Arena tomorrow. Last season the home side suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of BVB.

However, this season both teams are still trying to find their feet in the Bundesliga and only two points separate Schalke in 13th from Dortmund in eighth.

Keller feels that both sides are suffering from the same set of problems pertaining to the disruptions caused by the World Cup and injury concerns which have led to a stuttering start to the season for the two outfits.

“Both teams have had to face similar problems”, the 43-year-old told the club’s official site.

“You can see that it’s not that easy when you have a lot of players that went to the World Cup in your squad.

“The strain on both clubs during the season is also very high and that’s why both teams have stuttered a little.”

But the Schalke coach has emphasised the importance of the derby for both sets of players and fans and believes that all the other problems will be of secondary concern once the match gets under way tomorrow.

“It’s a derby! All the players will give their all and forget the problems.

“This game is very important to both clubs and both sets of fans. Everyone that’s on the pitch will be up for it.”

Schalke have an historical edge over Dortmund in the fixture with 57 wins to BVB’s 48 wins.
