Leeds United captain Jason Pearce is delighted that Neil Redfearn is to remain involved with the first team.

Redfearn took the managerial reins on a temporary basis following the sacking of David Hockaday and restored Leeds to positive form, winning three and drawing one of his four Championship games in charge of the Whites.

However, Leeds have now appointed Slovenian Darko Milanic as their new boss, meaning Redfearn has headed back to his role with the academy.

Milanic has confirmed Redfearn will join him in the dugout though and still be around the senior squad, something which delights Pearce.

Asked about dealing with the managerial turmoil by the BBC, Pearce replied: "As players we just try and be as professional as we can. It was up to the president to bring a new head coach or manager in when he decided it was right. As players we just have to get on with it.

"It's nice to know Redders is still around because he knows the lads well that have been here."

Redfearn had been tipped as a contender to take the manager's job, but insisted last weekend that he was never interviewed for the post.

He said: "I haven't been interviewed. The conversation I had with Massimo [Cellino, the owner] was would you look after it, and I said I would."
