Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has rubbished speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo could leave the Bernabeu to return to former club Manchester United.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has admitted he would be keen to explore whether a deal to re-sign Ronaldo from Real Madrid can be completed at some point in the future.

Such a switch would be likely to be a high-cost affair, but Manchester United have shown their willingness to spend big, splashing £150m on new players over the summer.

For Ancelotti however there is little point in even discussing a potential departure for Ronaldo, who he claims is perfectly happy in the Spanish capital.

"These are words without meaning", Ancelotti told a press conference today, when asked if he could imagine a Real Madrid without Ronaldo.

"He is very good here and all of Real Madrid are delighted with Ronaldo.

"These [suggestions] are nonsense", the Italian added.

Ronaldo was in fine form for Real Madrid earlier this week, hitting four goals as Los Blancos dismantled Elche at the Bernabeu in La Liga action.

The Portugal international has hit nine goals in four La Liga games this term, in a bright start to the new campaign.
