Sunderland new boy Billy Jones has expressed his optimism about seeing his team register back-to-back wins against Swansea City and Stoke City at home.

The Black Cats are winless in the Premier League this season, having just been knocked out of the League Cup as well after losing 2-1 to Stoke City on Tuesday.

And as shadows from last season loom large, Jones is hopeful that his team will be able to pick themselves up and get a win against an in-form Swansea City at the Stadium of Light today and Stoke City the following week.

“We can hopefully pick up our first win and put the disappointment of Tuesday’s loss behind us”, Jones told his club's official site.

“We know it is a massive couple of weeks with back-to-back home games and you need to take advantage of that.

“The support is going to be there and we know the fans will be right behind us.

"So hopefully we can give them back-to-back wins, because if you do that in the Barclays Premier League you will soon move up that table.”

Gus Poyet's side have managed four points from five Premier League matches this season and are currently placed 17th in the table, staying away from the relegation zone on goal difference.
