Eden Hazard continues to keep a close eye on events in France's Ligue 1 and believes it is the perfect competition for young players to thrive.

The Belgian forward turned out for Lille in Ligue 1 and was voted the league's best player for two consecutive years, before upping sticks and heading to Chelsea for €40m in 2012.

He continues to watch events in France closely though and admits he cannot rule out potentially playing for Lille again in the future, although he could also turn out for another Ligue 1 side.

"It's still a great European championship, but it may never be the best because of the financial constraints", Hazard explained to Canal +, speaking about Ligue 1.

"This is a championship for young players, allowing them to develop.

"If I return to Ligue 1 it will be with Lille, although you never know", he added.

Hazard has continued his development at Chelsea since arriving at Stamford Bridge and is considered one of the most promising players in Europe.

He was linked with French champions Paris Saint-Germain over the summer, but Chelsea have been firm in their stance of not entertaining offers for the Belgian.
