Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has vowed to fight on after his side suffered yet another defeat, going down 1-0 to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

Pardew headed into the Premier League fixture under huge pressure and with the Magpies sitting second bottom of the table. And matters did not improve from the off when Peter Crouch helped the ball home in just the 15th minute, from a Victor Moses cross.

Newcastle huffed and puffed, enjoying good spells of possession, but could not break down the Potters, while Magpies fans chanted for Pardew's head. Jack Colback hit the bar late on, however Newcastle suffered another defeat.

But the embattled manager is not thinking of walking away from the job, despite admitting he has never been in such a situation before in his career.

"It leave us in a position where we're in the bottom three. I have to fight, the team have to fight", Pardew told Sky Sports, when asked what the result does for his future.

"No [I won’t speak to owner Mike Ashley tonight], but I think we'll have serious conversations before Saturday because he doesn't want to lose and neither do I", Pardew continued.

"I've never really been in this situation before, it's a bit unique.

"But I'm a professional football manager and that's what I do – and that's what I'll continue to do."

Newcastle are next in action away at Swansea City on Saturday.
