Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck admits he is unhappy not to have been able to deliver a derby victory for the Gunners fans.

Welbeck turned out for Arsenal in the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, a game which ended as a 1-1 draw, Arsene Wenger's men coming from behind to claim a share of the spoils.

The striker, who insists derby day intensity is nothing new to him, is unhappy he was not able to deliver a three-point haul for Wenger's men.

And Welbeck knows what beating Tottenham would have meant.

"I have played in quite a few [Manchester] derbies and I played for Sunderland against Newcastle as well, so it is nothing new to me", he told his club's site.

"I know what it means to the fans and the whole club.

"I really wanted to get the three points so I’m a bit unhappy", Welbeck added.

The £16m summer signing also concedes that Arsenal were exposed on the counter attack by Spurs, leaving him with the feeling the match could have gone better for the Gunners.

"We tried to play out from the back and got caught in possession. Credit to them, they counter-attacked from there but it’s difficult to take because we were in control of the game.

"It could have gone better."
