Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has bemoaned fine margins for his side's 1-0 defeat away at Stoke City in the Premier League this evening.

Pardew, who headed into the match under huge pressure due to the Magpies sitting second bottom in the table, saw his side fall behind in the 15th minute when Peter Crouch got on the end of a Victor Moses cross for Stoke.

The Magpies did not crumble and showed fighting spirit, even enjoying the lion's share of the possession in the second half. But they had no way to break down the Potters and the introduction of Papiss Cisse made no difference, a late, late Jack Colback shot which hit the bar being their closest effort.

Newcastle fans again called for Pardew to be sacked at the final whistle and the manager was left bemoaning small margins for the side's defeat.

"It's slight margins in the game but another defeat. We can't keep getting beat and we'll have to address that", he told Sky Sports.

"It [breaking teams open] has been our problem for most of the season, we've got to find a little bit more quality.

"Our delivery and method let us down."

And Pardew hinted at making several team changes for Saturday's match against Swansea City, as he continued to fight to save his job.

"We did a bit more when we had width in the team and we might need to make a couple of changes to give us some thrust", he added.
