Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has explained that it was a proud moment for him to make his Premier League debut in his side’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.

The 23-year-old, who is a product of Spurs’ youth set-up, started in the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium, where Nacer Chadli opened the scoring in the 56th minute before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain equalised for the hosts 18 minutes later.

And Mason insisted that he now wants to build on his Premier League debut after a waiting a long time for it.

“It was a massive stage to make my debut and a proud moment for me”, Mason explained to his club’s official site.

“I’ve waited a long time and now I want to make the most of it."

Mason, who scored his maiden Tottenham goal in the club’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the League Cup on Wednesday, added that a positive result against the Gunners made his Premier League debut “more special.”

"It’s been a surreal week for me, I scored my first goal against Forest on Wednesday and to make my debut was amazing", he added.

“We got a good result as well and that makes it all the more special.”

Mason, who has had loan spells at Yeovil Town, Doncaster Rovers, Millwall, Lorient and Swindon Town, has thus far made just six senior appearances for Tottenham.
