Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen believes he is forming a very productive partnership with Younes Kaboul in defence, with a dogged performance against Arsenal on Saturday the evidence.

Vertonghen, who has often been shifted to left-back at Spurs, partnered Kaboul in the heart of the Spurs defence and succeeded in repelling wave after wave of Arsenal attacks to ensure a 1-1 draw for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

The Belgium international believes the signs are positive for the partnership between himself and Kaboul, while also taking time to praise the overall defensive display the team put in.

"Arsenal had a lot of possession but we defended well as a team, we worked very hard", he told the club's site.

"We have a good understanding, Younes and I, and we fit together well. We dealt with the attackers but as a team we can be happy", Vertonghen continued.

"It was definitely a deserved point, even though we were 1-0 up quite close to the end, as Arsenal pressed us back. But we stuck together effectively and have come away with a draw."

Spurs took the lead at the Emirates Stadium through Nacer Chadli, but found themselves pegged back when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain equalised for the hosts.
