Tottenham Hotspur custodian Hugo Lloris believes his side were rewarded for the determination they showed against Arsenal in the north London derby on Saturday.

Spurs took the lead at the Emriates Stadium through Nacer Chadli, but Arsenal struck back through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and then subjected the Tottenham defence to a thorough examination, bossing possession and attacking at will towards the end of the Premier League clash.

Lloris is delighted that Spurs stood firm to claim a point at the home of their rivals.

And the France international custodian believes their determination not to lose was behind the solid defensive rearguard action.

"It was a really tough game and we showed a great spirit", the goalkeeper told his club's site.

"We know that we could improve with the ball but defensively we were strong.

"Arsenal were strong, especially in the second half but defensively we had a great display and we deserved a point", he continued.

"We were a little under pressure before the game because of the result against West Brom last weekend and we needed to come away from here with something.

"We were rewarded for our fight because we put a lot into the game and if we keep this kind of spirit we can do a lot this season."
