Craig Whyte, the former owner of Scottish giants Rangers, has been banned from being a company director for a period of 15 years.

Whyte was handed the ban after a judge deemed his conduct while dealing with Rangers was "shocking and reprehensible".

The 43-year-old had previously been banned from being a director for seven years, however the UK Business Secretary Vince Cable sought a second ban after Rangers' liquidation in 2012, and Whyte's firm Tixway also slipping into liquidation.

And a court in Edinburgh has now ruled Whyte cannot be a company director for a period of 15 years.

The judge presiding over the case found that Whyte had put his interests ahead of those of the company.
