New Leeds United manager Darko Milanic believes it is too soon for him to know whether the club will have to look to make loan signings to bolster the squad.

Despite Leeds recruiting heavily in the summer transfer window, Milanic's predecessor at Elland Road, David Hockaday, bemoaned having too little in the way of Championship quality in his squad.

Leeds sporting director Nicola Salerno has ruled out permanent signings in January, but hinted loans are possible. However, Milanic is yet to decide whether the squad needs extra personnel.

Asked if he feels he needs loan signings by the BBC, Milanic replied: "I'm too short time here. A big experience for me was Saturday's game [against Brentford].

"Tomorrow [against Reading] is another game and it is much better for knowing the players. I think Championship games are very good experience for me to see how we are doing on the pitch."

And for now Milanic feels the emphasis has to be on taking the individual quality of the Leeds players and turning it into a team on the pitch.

"The squad has individual quality and we have to make a really strong team", he said.

Milanic lost his first game as Leeds manager at the weekend, with the side going down 2-0 away at Brentford. He has a quick chance to bounce back when Reading visit Elland Road tomorrow.
