Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that the club have agreed a new contract with striker Olivier Giroud.

The French hitman is currently sidelined until the new year through injury, but Arsenal have been working on signing him to a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

It had been speculated that an agreement had been reached for Giroud to pen an extension and now Wenger has confirmed that is indeed the case.

Asked about a new contract for Giroud at a press conference this afternoon, Wenger replied: "It is done.

"We will complete it", he added.

The Gunners snapped up Giroud from French outfit Montpellier in the summer of 2012 and he quickly became a vital part of the club's attacking options.

His injury earlier this term prompted Wenger to enter the transfer market to buy Danny Welbeck from Manchester United to fill the gap left by the Frenchman's absence.
