A partnership agreement could be on the cards between Premier League outfit Southampton and Swiss second tier side Servette FC.

The Saints were acquired by Swiss businessman Markus Liebherr in 2009 and his family have continued to own the club since his death.

Current chairman at St. Mary's is Canadian Ralph Krueger, a former ice hockey coach and player.

According to Le Matin, Krueger is in contact with Servette chairman Hugh Quennec and regularly speaks to his countryman about both football and ice hockey, with the two having formed a close bond.

And it has been speculated that a potential partnership between Southampton and Servette could soon be on the cards as a result of the mutual respect between both men.

Such a deal would likely see young Southampton talents head to Switzerland to cut their teeth, while Servette would benefit from starlets from one of England's foremost youth academies arriving to bolster their bid to earn promotion to the Super League.

The Saints could also earn first refusal on any Servette stars.
