Manchester United custodian David de Gea has revealed the club's goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek is keen for him to work on using his feet and building up play by passing the ball.

New Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal brought Hoek with him to Manchester United this summer, with the Dutchman replacing Chris Woods, who had held the post under previous manager David Moyes.

De Gea admits he finds training to be very different under Hoek, but is impressed by what he has learned from the Dutchman so far.

"For me and the other keepers it’s been a new way of training but Frans knows everything about the goalkeeping positions", he told MUTV.

"The things we do with our positioning, our feet…everything. He is one of the best I’ve seen", De Gea added.

And the Spain international revealed that Hoek is keen for the goalkeepers at the club to get used to using their feet as well as their hands.

"He wants to work on the positions for the different crosses, the shots. And for him, he wants us to play with our feet, the build up is important for him."
