Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has played down talk that the camp at Anfield is not a happy one, after defender Mamadou Sakho stormed out of the ground before Saturday's Merseyside derby draw with Everton.

The French defender did not react well to being told he was not involved against the Toffees and headed for the club car park, getting into his car and speeding off.

Sakho has been left out of Liverpool's squad for tonight's Champions League clash against Basel, but Rodgers insists that is because of injury and has played down talk players are not happy in the dressing room.

"It is anything but that", he was quoted as saying by ITV.

"Any of the players will tell you this is a group that is very much based on success and the behaviours within our team.

"We can understand that a player is not happy but it is very important that what we have achieved is down to the team.

"We are obviously working hard to consistently win games and I think we are seeing the early stages of all the players integrating and coming together.

"It will take a bit of time but it is never something which affects the team.

"The team is very happy in terms of the relations with each other and we aim to continue to simply work hard and gain positive results."

Liverpool have had a lacklustre start to the new season and sit just 14th in the Premier League standings.

They also needed a last minute penalty to win their opening Champions League match 2-1 against Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets Razgrad.
