England Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed the squad for the European Championship playoff matches against Croatia on Friday 10th and Tuesday 14th October.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been recalled and will return to the Under-21s after making three appearances for Roy Hodgson in the senior team earlier this year.

Southgate has also selected Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker and Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, who have been called up to the Under-21 team for the first time, whilst regulars James Ward-Prowse (Southampton), Nathaniel Chalobah (Burnley) and Danny Ings (Burnley) will miss out due to injuries.

England's Under-21s finished their European Championship qualifying at the top of their group, with nine wins out of ten and one draw.

The first leg of their playoff against Croatia will be hosted at Wolverhampton Wanderers' Molineux, with the overall winners of the two legs gaining a place in the Under-21 European Championship.
