Cristiano Ronaldo could soon be returning to Old Trafford – but rather than getting back into a Manchester United shirt, the 29-year-old will be donning the Portuguese national team's attire.

The famous stadium will play host to a friendly between Portugal and Argentina on 18th November, as confirmed by Juan Caros Crespi from the Argentinian Football Federation (AFA).

And the match will not only see Ronaldo make his way back to Manchester, where he spent six years of his professional career before moving to Real Madrid in 2009, but will also likely become the second international encounter between the Portuguese and Lionel Messi, who have both long been touted as the best player in the world.

Although no strangers at club level as both ply their trade in Spain's La Liga, the two stars last met in an international friendly between Portugal and Argentina in Switzerland in February 2011.

Despite an early goal from Ronaldo, it was Messi who decided the match through a penalty in the 89th minute, resulting in a 2-1 win for Argentina.

With ten goals in five matches, it is the Portuguese striker who currently leads La Liga's goalscorer table however, whilst Messi has accumulated just five in six games.
