France coach Didier Deschamps is not sure whether Patrice Evra has become a better player since his move to Juventus, however he does feel the left-back could hardly do worse than his time at Manchester United last season.

Evra ended a lengthy association with Manchester United this summer to join Juventus, departing on a sour note after the Red Devils were able to finish just seventh in the Premier League, a slump from first the previous season.

Deschamps has included Evra in his France squad for friendlies against Portugal (11th October) and Armenia (14th October).

But he will not be drawn on whether a move to Juventus has made the left-back a better player.

"I cannot say that Evra has improved at Juventus", Deschamps told reporters at the announcing of the France squad.

"Of course though it is easy to do better than the last six months we saw at United", he added.

Evra has won 62 caps for France at international level and made his debut for Les Bleus two years before he joined Manchester United, the defender switching to Old Trafford in 2006.
