Marseille are resigned to losing prolific striker Andre-Pierre Gignac on a free transfer next summer unless he agrees to an unlikely drastic pay cut.

Gignac, who has so far scored an impressive nine goals in nine Ligue 1 games to help Marseille top the league, has less than a year left to run on his deal at the Stade Velodrome.

He has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, including Liverpool and Juventus.

And the likelihood is that Gignac will be leaving Marseille in 2015.

According to French outlet Mercato 365, Marseille are unwilling to offer Gignac a contract even on the same terms as on his present contract, which sees him earn €300,000 per month.

For the French giants, who are struggling to reduce their wage bill, even signing Gignac to a deal on the same salary is out of the question.

And so the south coast club are resigning themselves to Gignac's departure.

That could even come in January if Marseille are offered an acceptable fee by one of the striker's suitors.
