Serie A side Napoli have been linked with a swoop for Manchester City midfielder James Milner.

The England international is a player Napoli coach Rafael Benitez knows well from his experience of the Premier League, which includes spells managing Chelsea and Liverpool.



And the Azzurri have been alerted to the possibility of snapping up Milner in the January transfer window.

According to southern Italian daily Il Mattino, Milner and Marseille winger Andre Ayew are in Napoli's sights as potential new year additions.

 


Milner was developed in the youth ranks at Leeds United, but was sold in 2004 to Newcastle United as financial problems gripped the Whites.

He moved on to Aston Villa, first on loan, and then permanently in 2008, before landing at Manchester City in 2010.

An established England international, Milner has won two Premier League titles with the Citizens, along with one FA Cup, one League Cup and one Community Shield.
