Manchester United target Kevin Strootman has taken another big step forward towards his recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Today the Roma midfielder joined his team-mates for group training, taking part in passing exercises.

Strootman did not complete the training session, continuing to be gently eased back into action, but the expectation is that he will return well before the end of the year.

Indeed, Roma coach Rudi Garcia has admitted that he would like to be able to select the Dutchman for the club's Champions League clash against Manchester City in December.

Strootman picked up his injury in March this year, succumbing to a cruciate knee ligament blow.

The injury kept the midfielder out of the World Cup in the summer and he missed the second half of Roma's Serie A campaign.

Being injured has not stopped Strootman being continually linked with Manchester United however.
