Serie A side Napoli are eyeing up a potential move for Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson.

Rafael Benitez's side want to strengthen their squad in January, but are looking to players out of contract in the summer in order to force through cut-price deals.

Already in the southern Italian club's sights are Marseille's Andre Ayew, Manchester City's James Milner, Dynamo Moscow's Christopher Samba and Basel's Fabian Schar.

Now, according to Italian daily Il Mattino, Johnson can be added to the list.

Benitez is familiar with Johnson from his time managing Liverpool and signed the right-back from Portsmouth in 2009.
