Paris Saint-Germain are looking at the possibility of drafting in a new midfielder in the January transfer window and AC Milan star Nigel de Jong is at the top of the list.

The French champions are aware they could find themselves two midfielders down when the winter window opens, as both Yohan Cabaye and Adrien Rabiot could quit the club.

According to French outlet Maxifoot, Liverpool are leading the chase for Cabaye, who is frustrated at a lack of first team football at the Parc des Princes.

Rabiot meanwhile has less than a year on his contract and PSG are likely to look to sell the midfielder to realise some value from him, rather than see him walk away for free in the summer.

It is De Jong who is now on PSG's wanted list, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.

AC Milan have been keen to sign De Jong to a new contract, but the Dutchman has yet to put pen to paper and his present deal expires in June.

The 29-year-old would also not be cup-tied for the Champions League, given AC Milan did not qualify for this season's edition.
