Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has suffered a second knee ligament tear and will undergo another operation.

The Spaniard suffered the first knee ligament tear in March this year but the club decided against surgically repairing the damage and the player underwent conservative treatment.

He suffered a setback in his recovery in mid-May and finally had to go under the knife, which prevented him from participating in the World Cup.

After undergoing rehabilitation he came back to training last week, but suffered a second ligament tear yesterday and now has to undergo another operation to fix the issue.

"What can I say? Of course at the moment I am deeply disappointed and distraught. Why always me? But I will not give up. I will continue to fight. I will come back again. And I will celebrate my comeback with Bayern”, the 23-year-old told the club’s official site.
