Galatasaray have paid Dutch international Wesley Sneijder’s outstanding salary to end a rumbling row over unpaid money.

It emerged earlier last week that the Turkish outfit paid a fraction of the salary that Sneijder was due to receive and the player was ready to move on from the Turk Telekom Arena, with around €1m in wages owed.

However, the Netherlands international midfielder insists that the issue of not receiving his salary was not as big as it was made out to be.

“I was not too worried about it”, Sneijder told De Telegraaf.

If Galatasaray failed to clear his dues, Sneijder could have asked for permission from FIFA to break away from his contract and sign for a new club, with Manchester United, consistently linked with the midfielder, believed to be keeping tabs on the situation in Turkey.

But Sneijder is now looking forward to making an impact against Galatasaray’s biggest rivals Fenerbahce this Saturday.

“After the disappointment against Iceland [for Holland], I am keen to get ready for the derby against Fenerbahce.”

The Dutch international joined the Turkish giants in January 2013 and helped the club to secure the Super Lig title in his first season.
