Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes that striker Karim Benzema is an ideal figure for players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale to flourish alongside.

The 55-year-old manager insists that he has never asked the Frenchman to score goals because that, he believes, is the last problem that his team have.

Indeed, Ancelotti wants Benzema to drop deeper down the pitch to play, while combining with Ronaldo and Bale.

And the way Benzema can fulfil that role is, the former Chelsea boss believes, unique, as there are no other strikers with similar characteristics.

"He has always done what I've asked him to do on the pitch", Ancelotti told his club's official site.

"I've never asked him to score goals because we've always said that the last problem this team has is scoring goals.

"Karim is the ideal figure for players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Bale. Playing with three midfielders and two wingers, it's very important to have a striker who drops deeper to play with the others and isn't only about scoring.

"In that respect, Karim is unique. There is no other striker with his characteristics."

Los Blancos, who are currently placed fourth in the league with 15 points from seven matches will take on Levante this weekend followed by a Champions League encounter against Liverpool on Wednesday.
