Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola wants to manage Manchester United in the future due to Old Trafford’s atmosphere, he has admitted in his new book.

The Spaniard, who took charge of the Bavarians at the start of the last season after a super successful four-year spell with Barcelona, revealed his desire to manage the Premier League outfit after watching Manchester United in action against Schalke in the Champions League at Old Trafford in 2011.

"I like this atmosphere. I could see myself coaching here one day", Guardiola reportedly told personal assistant Manel Estiarte after the Red Devils’ win over Schalke.

Guardiola made his decision to manage Bayern Munich in January 2013, before Sir Alex Ferguson announced his intention to step down as Manchester United boss after a staggering period of 26 years.

It was also believed that the English giants wanted to appoint Guardiola, who guided Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal last term, as David Moyes’ successor, but later settled for veteran Dutchman Louis van Gaal.
