Sheffield Wednesday manager Stuart Gray has expressed his pleasure at the team's defensive record, but believes that they need to chip in with goals as well in order to improve.

The Owls, who are currently placed ninth in the Championship table, have conceded only eight goals in eleven matches and currently boast of having conceded the fewest number of goals in the league along with Middlesbrough.

While the 54-year-old is impressed with the defensive display, he also feels that they need to add to the eleven goals they have scored so far in order to improve on their current league standings.

“We’ve had a reasonable start and I’m pleased for [goalkeeper] Keiren Westwood and the back four", Gray told his club's official site.

“They’ve done an excellent job. But I’ve also reminded them, they’ve got to chip in with the goals as well.

“I’m always sending the message to the players that they need to put the ball into the box when they get chance because you never know what’s going to happen.

“On the same note, you need to be alert in defending those situations when they’re against you."

The Owls will take on Watford next on 18th October followed by a match against Brentford on Tuesday.
