Everton manager Roberto Martinez feels that young Tyias Browning has already proven his credentials in top flight football.

The 20-year-old defender made his senior debut for Everton last month when he came on as a substitute to replace Tony Hibbert in the 72nd minute against Liverpool at Anfield.

He also made a substitute appearance against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this month and has impressed the Everton faithful with his performances against the two English giants.

Schooled at Everton’s youth academy, the young defender was a regular in the club’s Under-21 side before he was sent out on loan to Wigan for the latter half of last season.

With Everton’s defensive woes this season, Martinez decided to test out the youngster this term in the senior squad and the Everton manager seems impressed.

The Spaniard said that Browning has already proven that he can handle the pressure of top flight football with his performances against Liverpool and Manchester United.

"I think he is ready”, Martinez said in a press conference.

“The challenge with Tyias that we had is that whether he could cope with the big environment.

“And obviously throwing him in the derby and then allowing him to come out at Old Trafford is a clear example that he is ready for it."
