Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels that the new seeding rules for UEFA club competitions are not justifiable, but said he doesn’t have a problem with that.

UEFA have confirmed that from the 2015/16 season the winners of the top seven leagues will now be the top seeds when the draw for the group stage is made.

Arsenal have been top seeds in the Champions League for several years even though they have failed to win the English Premier League since 2004.

However, Wenger feels that the change will not make too much of a difference in the larger scheme of things in the Champions League.

“It just means that the top hat will not be top anymore, and it will not be more difficult to play against a Pot One team than a Pot Three team. I don’t think it will change anything at all”, the Frenchman told the club’s official site.

Though he can understand UEFA’s logic behind changing the seeding system, Wenger feels there was not much wrong with the old system.

“It is fair if you consider different criteria than the ones [UEFA] considered until now, which was the result you made in Europe over the last five years.

“Before it was just down to the results you have in Europe, which I found quite logical.

"But somebody decided otherwise.

"It is not completely justifiable but we can live with that. For me it is not a big problem.”
