Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti feels his side’s arch-rivals Barcelona are “more motivated and competitive” than last season.

The Catalan giants, who endured a rare major trophy-less campaign last term, are currently two points clear at the top of La Liga with 19 points from seven games.

Barcelona appointed Luis Enrique as their new manager at the start of the season and their transfer activities during the summer transfer window were highlighted by the arrival of Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez from Liverpool.

And with Brazilian star Neymar also being in fine form for both club and country, Ancelotti feels Barcelona are a much stronger team than last term.

“Barcelona look more motivated and competitive in comparison with last year”, he told Real Madrid TV.

“They’ve changed the coach, they have new players, a renewed Neymar.

“I think they’re more motivated and competitive than last year but they are always a very strong team.”

Real Madrid, who are presently fourth in the league table with 15 points, will lock horns with Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu on 25th October.
