Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that he has no intention of becoming the manager of the Netherlands national team.

The Oranje, who reached the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup under Louis van Gaal, have been in poor form since veteran Guus Hiddink took charge of the team after the showpiece event.

The Netherlands have lost three of the four matches they have played under Hiddink’s guidance, including two 2016 European Championship qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Iceland respectively.

And ex-Dutch internationals Ronald de Boer and Ruud Gullit voiced their opinion that Koeman should have succeeded Van Gaal, who is currently in charge at Manchester United.

However Koeman, who took charge of Southampton at the start of the season, has distanced himself from the speculation linking him to the Dutch job.

"I am the manager of Southampton, I am not the national manager and I will not be the next national manager", he told the BBC.

Despite losing a number of key players in the summer, Koeman’s side currently find themselves third in the Premier League table with 13 points from seven outings.
