Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has bemoaned what he sees as two key moments which went against his side and meant a 4-1 defeat away at Manchester City earlier today.

The Premier League champions opened the scoring through Sergio Aguero in just the 13th minute, but Christian Eriksen quickly pulled Spurs level only two minutes later.

In a quickfire start Manchester City were then awarded a penalty, which Aguero scored in the 20th minute.

Aguero then had another penalty in the 32nd minute, but could not put the Citizens 3-1 ahead.

The tables were then turned after the half-time break and Spurs had a penalty, which Roberto Soldado missed.

The sending off of defender Federico Fazio in the 67th minute and Aguero's subsequent penalty conversion made it 3-1 for the hosts and put the game beyond Spurs. Aguero then scored his fourth with 15 minutes still to play.

But far from being downbeat, Pochettino feels his side did not get their just desserts.

"I’m really disappointed with the result because it doesn’t reflect the situation in the game", he told his club's site.

"For me, there were two key moments, the Soldado penalty and the penalty in the first half, [Erik] Lamela [foul on Frank Lampard], the first penalty.

"But this is football. It’s important to take the positives and try to improve. We never gave up", Pochettino added.
