Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does not accept that his failure to buy another central defender or defensive midfielder is the reason behind his side's tendency to concede goals this season.

The Gunners, who sit seventh in the Premier League table and are already eleven points behind leaders Chelsea after eight games, have conceded eleven goals so far, scoring just 13.

They conceded two on Saturday as Hull City drew 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium.

It has again been suggested that Wenger's failure to reinforce his defence, with Thomas Vermaelen sold to Barcelona, and his midfield with a defensively-minded player, is costing the Gunners.

But that is not something Wenger is ready to accept.

"Some other teams have many defenders and concede goals as well", he told the BBC.

"I think it's more a problem of concentration than of quality."

The Frenchman was also in no mood to pin blame on members or areas of his side for Arsenal having managed to win just two Premier League games so far this term.

"Why do you always want to blame people? We try our best and we can only look at ourselves and nobody else", he added.
