Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has warned his club's fans that he has "no magic wand" to drastically increase the level of their performances, with time being the needed ingredient.

Rodgers' men were outplayed at times by QPR at Loftus Road today, but in a bizarre game which saw the home side score two own goals, Liverpool left London as 3-2 victors.

The club's performances have been poor in comparison to last term when they fought for the Premier League title and ultimately finished second.

However, with Luis Suarez sold over the summer and in excess of £100m spent on new players, Rodgers feels it will take time for the side to bed in.

"We scored 101 goals last year, but the dynamic of the team has changed", he said via his club's site.

"That just takes time, unfortunately there's no magic wand to make it work instantly.

"We've got a lot of games, with less coaching time and a lot of new players", the Northern Irishman added.

And Rodgers believes the players are giving their all to bring about an improvement in their performance levels.

"I commend the players again because they're coming in and working very hard to improve our performance level – and, like we've shown over my time here, that will improve.

"Until that happens, you have to win games and the three points were very important for us."
