Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has sarcastically hit out at the Spanish Football Federation for their treatment of Diego Costa, suggesting the striker will be perfectly fit to represent the country for November's international break.

Costa has been struggling with a hamstring complaint for much of the season and Mourinho was keen for Spain to allow him to use the recent international break to recover.

But Spain called Costa up for the games against Slovakia and Luxembourg, and he did not feature for Chelsea against Crystal Palace yesterday as a result.

Mourinho is less than happy.

"He will be in great condition in mid-November to be back for the national team. That's for sure", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"He will play for me when he has free time from the national team.

"After we beat Arsenal, Costa went to the national team, he played two big matches against Slovakia and Luxembourg, and he came back in conditions where he's not available to play for his club.

"Our medical department will take great care of him and in mid-November he will be in perfect condition."

Mourinho will hope Costa is fit to play against Manchester United next Sunday, with the Spaniard already having been ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League game with Maribor.
