West Brom manager Alan Irvine admits his side respect Monday night opponents Manchester United, but believe they can match the Red Devils across the pitch.

Louis van Gaal takes his side to the Hawthornes in good form, with Manchester United having won their last two Premier League games.

West Brom had their own three game winning run halted before the international break by Liverpool, losing 2-1 at Anfield.

Irvine is wary of the threat Manchester United pose, but is confident of his team's ability.

"We obviously respect Manchester United, we know that they're a very good team, we know that they've got top players", he told his club's site.

"But we've got good players here, who are very hard working and professional and want to work as a team.

"And if we play to our ability we can give any team a game", the Baggies boss concluded.

Last term West Brom beat Manchester United at Old Trafford, but then suffered a 3-0 defeat on home turf when the Red Devils visited.
